Workforce
The Portsmouth city region is home to over half a million people. It offers a high quality workforce of 313,800 people, who are of working age and within a 30 minute commute of the city centre. Each year, around 20,000 students graduate at the University of Portsmouth, together with a number of local colleges and FE Institutions offering practical training and vocational courses, recruitment and retention of high quality staff is guaranteed.
The Portsmouth city region is unique in having a large quantity and quality of potential employees across a wide range of different industries, including ICT, creative, new media and digital, marine, aviation and space and finance services. Home of the Royal Navy, 1,500 experienced personnel leave and enter the local economy annually providing a pool of skilled workers to the city region.
